This doesn't apply to me because I just said i was going black, but I did red last time, and it faded quite a bit over the course of time it was dyed..........

I asked my hair stylist this when a woman next to me was having her hair dyed red...it's just that color. The way it was formulated by the chemist...it's the best they can do for right now. Red is a hard color to reproduce synthetically, I guess...go figure!

Just keep dyeing

Sun exposure and high pH hair products will make all hair color fade. Immediately after coloring try rinsing your hair with a an equal mixture of water and white vinegar. Let sit for a minute and rinse well. Don't do this often as vinegar can dry your hair.

A color enhancing shampoo will help - especially with reds and blacks.

john Frieda shampoo, conditioner, moose, hairspray, etc. they worked for me when i had dyed my hair red. its kind of expensive but they work.
