I have a small dog about 10 lbs. Her skin is turning red under her hair. She scratches constantly.?

I give her bath constantly with different kinds of dog shampoo. I see no fleas on her. She is very misarable. I know she needs to see a vet but i have limited income and cant afford to take her. I dont know if this makes a difference but she is always cold. Any ideas she needs some relief

I would take her to the vet and get them to do a skin scrape on her it could be sarcoptic mange or demodex mites and they bury underneath the skin and make it very itchy and uncomfortable for the dog and they cannot be seen by the human eye personally i would take her to the vet, but she could just be allergic to something but i would still take her to the vet anyway.

Maybe she needs to be bathed less - her skin may be irritated from the shampoo. Also, she may need a sweater. I would just call a vet - maybe they can offer some free advice over the phone.

it sounds like something irritiating her skin. have there been any recent changes? changed laundry degernent? shampooed the carpets? used bug spray? lawn treatments? you can try a little bit of benedryl spray. (only a little since she's tiny!) and try using baby shampoo since her skin is delecate right now. if it gets really hot to the touch or oozing she should see a vet though. try calling and see if they can give you some other advice or something over the counter. good luck!

the constant bathing may have dried out her skin !! but it could still be fleas !! they are hard to see,if your dog has dark fur.

What kind of grass do you have? Many dogs are allergic to Bermuda grass. I have to give mine monthly allergy shots because she will itch so badly.

Try using Benedryl spray on her tummy and see if it helps.

it sounds like she has a bit of a skin allergy. Dogs can be allergic to all sorts of things pollens, certain proteins in their food etc. and this can make them a bit itchy. The skin is turning red because she is scratching so much. you'd be best taking her to the vet who will most likely give her a shot of steroids to settle the scratching, perhaps some antibiotics to prevent any secondary infection and maybe take some skin scraps to rule out mites. the vet may also give u a special shampoo that kills bacteria and yeasts. This type of thing can be easily resolved and it isnt too expensive but i'd definately take her to the vet. i'd also stop bathing her with your shampoo until you've spoken to a vet as this could be part of the problem. Hope she's better soon!

From my experience with my dog - bull terrier-white I would say that your dog is allergic on shampoo. They are to strong for her/his skin. For the fleas I do recommend fresh GARLIC-let her eat every day one small piece of it. Fleas do not like Garlic.

Friendly advice,

possible allergy to foods, carpets, grass, shampoos.flea treatment, worms etc.mayb if u ring the animal welfare league or simular group they will help you get assistance with reduced fees.there are a number of vets that do this.maybe ring a vet and ask for a repayment plan.i really think your dog needs a vet,as she may need antibiotics and mayb cortisone injection and meds for lil while.change her bedding and mayb try boiled chickn, rice and some pastas.couldnt you ask a family member or friend to help $$.i kno its hard,i have 4 dogs and im govt payment too, being a single mum of 4.please try getting her to the vet before infection starts and its too late.

ok stop bathing her so much for one... once every two weeks is plenty unless she gets into something... give her one wild salmon fish oil capsule a day

you can get them at a drug store i swear they work... make her swallow it whole tho as it will stink if she breaks it
