my natural hair color is dark brown. i dyed it red and got sick of dying it the same color so i dyed it black. i have been dying it black for about a year now and i tried to dye it back auburn again, and all it dyed was the roots. does anyone PLEASE does anyone know what i should do to get a different light hair color back? thank you!

dyeing your hair a really dark color makes it really hard to go back and try to lighten up without riskying that 2-toned strands. plus your roots tend to absorb the color a lot quicker than the rest of it, i think the best thing for you to do is go to a salon and have them 'lift' off the black dye for you. if you keep trying to dye it lighter the same thing will keep happening and you'll end up really damaging your hair.
